Admissions
Admissions Policy
Students do not have to live in the catchment area to apply for a place in our Sixth Form. With one exception (The Cambridge Technicals Level 3 Extended Certificate in IT), The West Bridgford School Post-16 Centre only offers A level courses. We therefore propose the following admissions criteria:
- To study 4 A level subjects plus Personal Development, students need to obtain 3 GCSE's at Grade 6 in chosen subjects and 2 GCSE's at Grade 5.
Students will only be considered if they have achieved a minimum of Grade 5 at GCSE level in both English and Mathematics.
These requirements do not include English oral grades or GCSE half course grades.
Over subscription for the Post-16 Centre
Where the number of applications for admission exceeds the number of places available, the following criteria will be applied in the order set out below, to decide which children to admit:
- Looked after and previously looked after children, in accordance with the School Admissions Code 2021, which states that all admission authorities must give highest priority to this group of children.
- Children who have been in state care outside of England and ceased to be in state care as a result of being adopted. This also includes children who were previously looked after in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
- Children who already attend the school and meet the entry criteria.
- In the event of an over-subscription of the above criteria proximity to the school will be used with those living nearer being given priority. Distance measurements to be made as the crow flies from the home address to the main reception office of the school.
